Despite the strict instructions from Katherine Schwarzenegger, the ex-wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger informs the 'Today' hosts that her oldest daughter is 'super happy'.

AceShowbiz - Chris Pratt's future mother-in-law, newswoman Maria Shriver, has been banned from publicly discussing her daughter's engagement in detail.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" star proposed to Katherine Schwarzenegger on January 13 following a whirlwind romance, months after they were introduced by her mother, Maria.

The couple briefly commented on the happy news with posts on social media at the time, but the bride-to-be has since forbidden her delighted mum to chat about the engagement in the press, so Maria had to keep her comments to a minimum as she appeared on U.S. breakfast show "Today", on which she serves as a contributor.

"She's super happy - and gave me very strict instructions not to talk about it," Maria smiled on Tuesday, January 22. "She said, 'It's not your moment.' I'm like, 'I'm clear.' I gave her that line!".

"She wants to have her moment. Good luck," the reporter added.

Chris, who finalised his divorce from actress Anna Faris last autumn (2018), announced he was heading down the aisle again by sharing a sweet snap of the couple kissing, with Katherine's stunning diamond ring on display on her left hand.

"Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes!" he captioned the shot. "I'm thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!".

In the comments section, Maria shared her joy at the engagement as she gushed about their relationship.

"Congratulations to two loving, kind, caring, thoughtful, spiritual people," Shriver wrote. "We are so happy for you. You are blessed, as is everyone who knows you. Yes, let's go."

Katherine, 29, is the eldest of Maria's four children with her estranged husband, action man Arnold Schwarzenegger.
