BLACKPINK Breaks BTS' YouTube Record With 'DDU-DU-DDU-DU' Music Video

The four-piece group's visuals has been crowned the most-viewed music video by a Korean group on the video-sharing platform.

AceShowbiz - BLACKPINK is slowly but surely taking over the music industry. Their music video for "DDU-DU-DDU-DU" has been crowned the most-viewed K-Pop music video by a group on YouTube after beating a record previously held by BTS' (Bangtan Boys) "DNA" visuals.

The video for the four-piece girl group's hit song has garnered more than 618 million views on the video-sharing platform, while the visuals for the boyband's "Face Yourself" track has been viewed more than 617 million times. Many fans have celebrated the girls' new milestone, with many writing similar messages such as "so proud of my babies," "the queens did it" and "As it should be."

Since "DDU-DU-DDU-DU" music video came out last June, the video has grew in popularity and continued to break records among Korean musicians. The visuals was previously named the most-viewed Korean music video within 24 hours of its release on YouTube with 36.2 million views. It additionally surpassed the first 24-hours views of Psy's 2013 "Gentleman" and BTS' "Fake Love" which saw 36 million and 35.9 million views respectively.

At the time, the music video also became the second-most-viewed music video ever in the first 24-hour period, just behind Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" visuals which garnered 43.2 million views. The record was later broken by Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" music video which amassed 55.4 million views in its first 24 hours.

Consisting of Jennie, Rose, Lisa and Jisoo, BLACKPINK is currently preparing to perform at the 2019 Coachella. They will be joining headliner Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) on April 12 and 19 at the festival which will take place at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, becoming the first female K-Pop group to take the stage at the festival.

Other big names who will deliver their performances at this year's Coachella include Janelle Monae, DJ Snake, J Balvin, Khalid and Ella Mai. Meanwhile, Ariana, Gambino and Tame Impala will headline.
