Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino's Wife Says He's Doing Great in Prison, Thanks Fans for Support

Taking to Twitter, Lauren Pesce tells her followers, 'It is truly heartwarming to have this support during this time.'

AceShowbiz - It's been two days since Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino began his 8-month jail stint, and it appears the reality TV star is doing all right. His wife, Lauren Pesce, took to Twitter on Thursday, January 17 to give fans an update on how the "Jersey Shore" star is doing behind the bars.

Thanking those who continue to support him amidst the difficulty, she said, "Mike would like to thank all of his fans worldwide for the unbelievable outpouring of love & support." She added, "We speak everyday & he's doing great."

Lauren went on saying that Mike received "thousands of letters" since he began his prison sentence. Even though he wasn't able to reply to them one by one, the "Jersey Shore: Family Vacation" star "wanted to express his gratitude to each and everyone of you." She said in another tweet, "Thank you from the both of us; it is truly heartwarming to have this support during this time. Lots of Love, Michael & Lauren Sorrentino."

Mike is currently serving his time at Otisville Federal Correctional Insitution in upstate New York. According to the FCI Otisville Inmate handbook, the star is ordered to take part in its Admission and Orientation Program -- which consists of a case management and medical screening, as well as a screening by the mental health staff. In addition, he is assigned a job based on institutional needs.

Mike was sentenced to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of tax evasion in January 2018. After the MTV personality completes the eight months, he will have two years of supervised release and 500 hours of community service. In addition to that, he was ordered to pay $10,000 fine and $123,000 in restitution. Meanwhile, his brother Marc was handed a 24-month prison sentence for tax offenses.
