The 'I Love It' hitmaker is facing criticism after he appears to defend the disgraced singer during his new Sunday Service event.

AceShowbiz - Amidst the controversy surrounding R. Kelly, Kanye West has somehow managed to get himself into the issue after he appeared to defend the disgraced singer while hosting his new Sunday Service event. The backlash was unsurprisingly immediate, but Kim Kardashian would not let people continue bad mouthing her rapper husband and was quick to defend him.

It all started after a video of Kanye's speech, which was first obtained by TMZ, made its way round the internet. "Everybody they want the art from the artist, but anytime they do anything erratic, they just gonna pull up full documentaries on them and then they gone come with the Michael [Jackson] documentary," he said at point, referencing to "Leaving Neverland" which is set to air on HBO this spring.

"We can all enjoy their music all we want," he continued. "I thought I wasn't going to go there today. If we're gonna tear down artists, let's go ahead and take [Leonardo] da Vinci out the Lourve while we're at it. Let's take down all the art."

Considering the timing of his speech, it only came as natural when people started believing that he was talking about Kelly. "Kanye officially cancelled in my book," one social media user wrote as another chimed in, "Why couldn't Kanye just have his Sunday Service and keep his support for R. Kelly to himself? Lord this man is exhausting."

Taking to her Twitter account, Kim clarified the "Gold Digger" rapper's comment and insisted that he was only speaking about himself, not anyone in particular. "I'm going to nip this in the bud right now. Kanye was speaking about his own experience of everyone quick to say they are cancelling him because of differences in opinion & not being perfect," the KKW Beauty founder said. "The analogies were in context to his own experiences, not defending anyone else."

She went on saying in another tweet, "I want to make it very clear, he is not condoning anyone's actions or unacceptable disgusting behavior. My husband's words are being taken out of context due to timing."

Meanwhile, Kanye has yet to comment on the backlash.
