Having been reported to have said 'this generation are looking for a reason to be offended,' the 'Skyscraper' star takes to his social media account to deny the interview ever took place.

AceShowbiz - Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has denied criticising millennials in a newspaper interview.

The wrestler-turned-actor reportedly told an interviewer at British newspaper The Daily Star that the young people of today are "looking for a reason to be offended."

However, Dwayne took to Instagram on Friday, January 11 to upload a video in which he vehemently denied making the comments and explained that he was baffled by the newspaper's article.

"The interview never took place, never happened, never said any of those words. Completely untrue, 100 percent fabricated. I was quite baffled when I woke up this morning," the 46-year-old explained. "I've gained such great trust and equity in all you guys all around the world over the years, and you know it's not a real DJ (Dwayne Johnson) interview if I'm ever insulting a group, a generation, or anyone, because that's not me. And that's not who I am, and it's not what we do."

The father-of-three - who had taken a break from a workout to deny the story - told his 128 million followers that he encouraged empathy and growth, but most importantly, he aspires to "encourage everybody to be exactly who they want to be."

A representative for The Daily Star has not yet responded to Dwayne's accusations.

Elsewhere in the controversial interview, the "Skyscraper" actor was alleged to have told the publication that young people are "putting us backward".

"So many good people fought for freedom and equality - but this generation are looking for a reason to be offended," the newspaper quoted Dwayne as commenting in an "exclusive" chat. "If you are not agreeing with them then they are offended - and that is not what so many great men and women fought for."
