As he provides reason why rehab wasn't helpful in kicking off his alcohol addiction, the former 'Jackass' star assures that he is not alone and is surrounded by many sober family and friends.

AceShowbiz - Former "Jackass" star Bam Margera has checked himself out of rehab 10 days after beginning treatment for alcohol addiction.

The 39-year-old skateboarder and one-time reality TV star announced his decision on Instagram with a photo of a handwritten note revealing he was only drinking out of "boredom" rather than addiction.

In the candid message, Margera confessed he was inspired by fellow "Jackass" star Steve-O, who conquered addiction to get clean on his own, rather than in a rehab facility.

"I thought they were lifers who would never stop and they did," he wrote. "So even though I made a conscious decision to limit my drinking I still wanted to get help."

He also explained why the rehab process wasn't helpful for him.

"In rehab I am bored 50 per cent of the time so that's when I figured out that when boredom sets in and alcohol is off limits - that's when I get creative as f**k, an explosion of good ideas, exercise, skate, workout, yoga, hike, bike way more," he explained.

Bam then expressed his gratitude for those around him, who have been supporting his efforts to get sober.

"I am not alone! I might not be in rehab with you, but I am surrounded by many sober family and friends, spiritual healers, therapists, sober coaches and my sponsor," he shared. "I do not have a desire to drink because I have so much to do that being bored is out of the question. I don't want to drunk anymore because it ruins my focus of what I know what I have to do and I am having a blast doing it."
