While it is still unclear what role she will tackle in this Nathaniel Rich's article-based movie, the 'Ocean's 8' actress is joining a cast ensemble that includes Mark Ruffalo and Tim Robbins.

AceShowbiz - Anne Hathaway is joining Mark Ruffalo in Todd Haynes' film about the DuPont chemical company.

In November (18), it was announced that Oscar-nominated actor Ruffalo would star in the project as Robert Bilott, a corporate defence attorney who took on an environmental suit against executives at the U.S. conglomerate and eventually exposed a "brazen, decades-long history" of pollution.

Now, editors at Variety have confirmed that Anne has been cast in the film, which does not yet have a title, as has Tim Robbins. It is not yet known what characters they will portray.

Additionally, stars such as Victor Garber, Bill Camp, William Jackson Harper, Bill Pullman and Mare Winningham will have supporting roles. Production on the film is due to begin in Cincinnati, Ohio this month.

Carol filmmaker Haynes will direct from a script penned by Matthew Carnahan and Mario Correa.

Inspired by a real story, the plot will be based on Nathaniel Rich's article entitled "The Lawyer Who Became DuPont's Worst Nightmare", which was published in The New York Times in January 2016.

In addition to starring in the feature, Ruffalo will act as a producer alongside Pamela Koffler and Christine Vachon, while Participant Media's Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King will executive produce. Bilott will serve as a consultant on the feature.

Hathaway, 36, was last seen onscreen in heist drama "Ocean's 8". She recently wrapped production on thriller "Serenity (2019)" with Diane Lane and Matthew McConaughey, and will also appear in comedy "The Hustle", a remake of 1988's "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", with Rebel Wilson.

Meanwhile, 60-year-old Robbins recently starred in short-lived TV series "Here and Now", and is working on sci-fi flick "A Patriot" with director Dan Pringle.

A potential release date for the DuPont film has not yet been announced.
