During an appearance on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert', the 'Night School' actor also offers a taste of the jokes he would have delivered at the awards ceremony.

AceShowbiz - Kevin Hart had some "really good" jokes planned when he was rehearsing for the 2019 Academy Awards.

The comedian was unveiled as the host for Hollywood's big night in early December (2018), but less than 48 hours later, he announced he was stepping down from the role after a series of derogatory Twitter comments aimed at the LGBTQ community, dating back to 2008, resurfaced online.

After making apologies and receiving support from Ellen DeGeneres, many speculated Kevin would return for the gig, claims he has denied, and during an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Wednesday night (January 09), he commented that he thought he would have done a good job at making people laugh.

"I was going to be good. I had some stuff. I had some heat. I had some real good jokes," he said. "The reason I was going to host the Oscars was to take the tension out of the room... everybody is uptight. No one can breathe or move."

"I was going to say relax because one thing you don't want to become is a meme. A meme will end your career. I had so much stuff! It was going to be fire!"

Kevin went on to note that he did not know who would replace him, or if there would be a host at all at the upcoming ceremony. Though he thought Stephen would be a good option.

"I got too much to apologise for. You've got nothing on me," the presenter quipped.
