The 'Baby Driver' actor reportedly pumped the brakes on his relationship with the 'Dawson's Creek' alum because he was unwilling to go public with their romance.

AceShowbiz - Despite their seemingly romantic vacation in Miami in late December, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx's relationship was reportedly on the rocks prior to that. According to Life & Style, the Academy Award-winning actor told his longtime girlfriend over the phone that he wanted to slow things down because he was not ready to go public with their romance.

But Katie would not give up on their relationship. A source tells the site (via HollywoodLife.com) that Katie came up with the idea to spend the weekend together in Miami. The source says, "She went above and beyond to show Jamie that she's still in love with him, begging him to give their relationship one more shot."

"It was really a make-or-break vacation, and it worked," the so-called insider adds. "Katie and Jamie's little yacht adventure was just what the doctor ordered. Jamie was impressed by Katie's initiative and it definitely put the spark back into their relationship."

The couple was pictured engaging in a lot of PDA during the trip, and they also talked about their relationship. "They had a deep conversation about their future together," the source says, adding that Katie admitted to "stringing Jamie along for too long. But this is a new beginning for them. It was a sign that things may finally change and they can move forward in their relationship."

Contrary to Life & Style's report, another source hints that marriage is still far from happening for the couple as Jamie isn't looking to settle down anytime soon. The source claims that the 40-year-old actress is okay with it. "She's infatuated with him," the source tells Us Weekly of why Katie is willing to compromise with it. "It's what Katie signed up for."

Katie and Jamie have never publicly talked about their relationship despite being rumored to have been dating since 2013. Asked about his Miami vacation with his girlfriend, the "Django Unchained" star told Us Weekly earlier this month, "It was foolish!"
