Stopping by Bailee Madison and Kaitlin Vilasuso's 'Just Between Us' podcast, the 'One Tree Hill' star reveals he was inspired to be an actor after spending time in a hospital as a teenager.

AceShowbiz - Chad Michael Murray apparently has a touching reason behind his dream to become an actor. The former "One Tree Hill" actor made an appearance on Bailee Madison and Kaitlin Vilasuso's "Just Between Us" podcast to surprise a teenage cancer survivor, and took time to share his own hospitalization story.

"When I was fifteen, I was in the hospital. Nothing, I mean, even comparable," the 37-year-old actor began recalling. "I was there for about three months, and I became an actor because I wanted to create entertainment to keep people's minds off it - to keep it in great places. And that's what's so beautiful."

"My goal always was - I remember, you know what it was for me? It was 'Scooby Doo'…and 'The Simpsons' is what made me happy. I would sit in bed, and I remember how lonely I was," he continued on. "And I'd just turn on the TV and I'd just forget about everything that was going on for so long. I said, 'That's what I want to do. I want to be an actor someday so that I can give that to somebody else as a kid.' "

"So, you just brought everything full circle to know that you were sitting there, and watching something that we put our heart and soul into," Chad told three-time cancer survivor Alexandra Wilson. Having learned that the 18-year-old used his drama series to going through chemotherapy treatments, he said, "Thank you so much. That warms my heart, beyond - you have no idea."

Wilson was treated with a surprise meeting with Chad during the taping of "Just Between Us". For the special episode of the podcast, she talked about the difficulties of fighting a life threatening disease after being diagnosed with stage-four neuroblastoma at the age of 4. Three years later, she was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, and at 17, she was diagnosed one again with neuroblastoma.
