AceShowbiz - There was a surprising love story that unfolded at the 2019 Golden Globes on Sunday, January 6. Presenting the award for Best Screenplay for a Motion Picture, Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler seized the opportunity to parody Glenn Weiss' famed proposal at the 2018 Emmy Awards, and it was really hilarious.
During the moment, Maya turned to the crowd and said, "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, guys. But I just have to this." She then turned to her former "Saturday Night Live" co-star, exaggeratedly shaking and pretending to hold back tears. Calling Amy the "love of my life," in a quivering voice, she held out a ring box and popped the big question. "Amy Geraldine Poehler, will you marry me?" the brunette lady asked dramatically.
Pretending to be shocked, Amy responded, "What?! Oh my God, I cannot believe you're doing this. Are we stealing the focus away from the next award?" Maya then told her not to worry because "it's just best screenplay," prompting the "Parks and Recreation" alum to accept the proposal. "Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes! I can't believe you're doing this in front of everyone!"
"It's just you and me, babe," Maya told her as they nuzzled each other. They then went on to announce the winner of the category, but Maya couldn't help but blurt out, "She said yes!"
The hilarious skit prompted people to urge the Academy to hire the two as hosts for the 2019 Oscars, replacing Kevin Hart. "Have they found a host for the Oscars yet? Because me thinks Amy and Maya would be perfect to do it," one said as another echoed the remark, "It's also freaking clear who should host the 2019 Oscars BTW." A third chimed in, "Can Maya and Amy please host the Oscars?! Lol."
