It has been reported that the 'Un-Break My Heart' hitmaker owes the government almost half a million dollars in back taxes.

AceShowbiz - Toni Braxton doesn't really have a good start in 2019. Amid rumors of her and Birdman calling off their engagement, it has been reported that the singer-songwriter owes the government almost half a million dollars in back taxes.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the Internal Revenue Service filed a lien against her for more than $340,200 in back taxes for 2017. As if that wasn't bad enough, the State of California Franchise Tax Board also filed a tax lien against her for over $116,100. The total of the liens comes to more than $456,000.

The publication further reported that both the IRS and the State of California had warned Braxton to hurry up and pay or they will start seizing her property. It was also said that last year, the filed back tax liens against the "Un-Break My Heart" hitmaker for more than $780,000, citing court documents.

Braxton hasn't responded to request for comment.

It arrives after Braxton and Birdman were said to be breaking up in the beginning of the year. Speculation ramped up when Birdman updated his Instagram Stories, writing, "It's over..." He later deleted the post and wiped off all of his posts. The "Braxton Family Values" did the same thing before posting a picture of herself in a red dress with a caption that read, "Starting a new chapter isn't always an easy choice... but ALWAYS choose to be chosen. Cheers to a new year."

Further fueling the speculation, they were caught unfollowing each other on the photo-sharing platform.

The rumors sure came as a surprise for their fans, as Braxton previously revealed that her alleged ex-fiance told her to pick a wedding date as soon as possible. She also noted that the rapper wanted to get married in California. "He said that we can go through a drive-thru," she said at the time. "I'm like, 'What are we gonna order, fries?' No."
