Sharing his experiences in his new memoir, the husband of Tom Daley opens up about how difficult it was to come out as gay in a strict Mormon household.

AceShowbiz - Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black once attempted to get a young woman pregnant in a bid to deny his sexuality.

The Oscar-winning "Milk" writer, who is now happily married to British diver Tom Daley, found it difficult to come out as gay as youngster, especially as he grew up in a strict Mormon household.

Dustin has now opened up about his experiences in new memoir "Mama's Boy: A Story from Our Americas", and in one chapter has recalled how, in an attempt to curb his homosexual urges, he began dating a "voluptuous lifeguard" as a teenager, and convinced himself that having children would bring him "more happiness than any passion or romance ever could".

"I tried my best to get this unsuspecting young woman pregnant. Condoms? Forget about it. Birth control? We never had the conversation. Go down there? No thank you," he writes in the book. "But no matter how hard I tried (and thanks to 19-year-old hormones, I actually could try hard), by summer's end I was convinced my sperm must be just as defective as I was.

"That summer of heterosexual sex wasn't all for naught. It made one thing abundantly clear: no amount of trying, no matter how beautiful, loving or supportive the unsuspecting woman might be, would ever cure me of my 'secret something'."

The book hits shelves next spring (2019), and also chronicles how the 44-year-old came out to his ultra conservative mother and his struggles with suicidal thoughts.

Dustin and Tom, 24, are now the proud parents of son Robert, who they welcomed via surrogate in June.

The loved-up couple shared a sweet family snap of the baby in front of a Christmas tree on Friday, December 21.
