The news comes as a surprise as the software designer didn't seem to show any sign that he was in poor health.

AceShowbiz - Trina Braxton's former husband Gabe Solis reportedly passed away on Thursday, December 20 after losing a cancer battle. The "Braxton Family Values" former star was 43.

It was said that Gabe died in Texas, surrounded by friends and family.

The news comes as a surprise as Gabe didn't seem to show any sign that he was in poor health. Gabe, who married Trina in 2003 before splitting in 2015, uploaded a photo of him looking healthy on Instagram as recent as December 8.

The photo saw him hanging out with some family members at a San Antonio Mexican cafe. "Good seeing part of the fam!" so he wrote in the caption.

According to TMZ, the software designer hid his health issues from his family.

Gabe and Trina appeared on "The Braxton Family Values" on which the ups and downs in the their relationship were well-documented. The two recently appeared in an episode of "Iyanla: Fix My Life" to settle their differences and move forward with their lives.

"I'm angry at you for bullying me and pushing me around," Gabe told Trina while breaking down in tears, explaining she'd become like an "enemy" to him. He went on admitting that he did love her and enjoy being with her, though he stayed with her because she was something he was used to.

The former couple first met at an Atlanta bar named American Pie. "On their first real date they both claimed that they didn't want to get into a serious relationship with each other and just wanted to have fun - and the opposite happened," according to his WE TV bio page. "After a year and a half, Gabe took Trina to see 'Dreamgirls' at the Fox Theater, and on the rooftop of the Georgian Terrace Hotel after, he proposed. Trina said 'yes' but didn't like the ring so they later exchanged it."

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gabe Solis' family and friends.
