Prior to the denial, the retired soccer superstar was reported to have talked about the idea of heading into the orbit for quite a while which his children found pretty cool.

AceShowbiz - David Beckham has denied reports he's making plans to travel into space.

A source told The Sun that the retired soccer star was thinking about heading into orbit and that a number of space travel firms are courting him as a potential customer.

However, David's representative ended speculation by telling Britain's Metro newspaper: "It's not true."

The Sun's source claimed the 43-year-old was excited about the space trip as it would please his four children with wife Victoria Adams.

"It's something that David has talked about for quite a while," they explained. "It has been mooted in the past but now space travel is becoming a more realistic prospect it could be a reality. Some of David's kids have been talking about it and think it would be pretty cool."

The insider did add that the English soccer hero was "nervous" about the idea of blasting off beyond the atmosphere.

Other stars rumoured to be mulling the idea of space travel include Tom Cruise, The Killers guitarist Dave Keuning, and David Guetta.
