Starting 2019, the Emilio and Gloria Estefan Scholarship will be managed by the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation to support music students' pursue of a bachelor's degree.

AceShowbiz - Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio Estefan are establishing a $200,000 (£159,300) scholarship for students at Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts next year (19).

The Emilio and Gloria Estefan Scholarship, which will be administered by officials at The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, will benefit music students completing a bachelor's degree.

"Twenty years ago we were part of the founding committee that launched the Latin Grammys and it is such a satisfying honour to be a part of this organisation as benefactors that will make reality the dream of one student with interest in Latin music," Emilio says.

"It is a pleasure to support and help a student attend one of the most prestigious and celebrated universities in the world."

According to Billboard, the idea for the four-year Prodigy Scholarship, which the Estefans' fund falls under, was launched in 2015 with Enrique Iglesias as the first co-sponsor.

Fellow Latin artists Juan Luis Guerra, Miguel Bose, and Carlos Vives each stepped up to donate to the cause in the years that followed.
