AceShowbiz - Comedian Artie Lange, who is serving four years probation for heroin possession, tested positive for cocaine and amphetamine when he appeared at state Superior Court in Newark on Friday, December 14. Even though this could have thrown him into prison, he was spared jail time for violating his probation.
Judge Nancy Sivili showed mercy to the comedian by directing Lange's attorney to make an application to drug court instead of ordering him to go to jail. Despite the order, it doesn't mean Lange will be forever free from a jail sentence. If Lange is denied the drug court program, he will once again face a jail sentence.
After his court appearance, Lange took to Twitter to thank the judge for her leniency and credit a legal medication called Suboxen for helping him get negative result for heroin. "For the last decade or more they'd have found both Heroine and Cocaine. With the help of in my eyes a miracle legal medication called Suboxen I tested negative for Heroin. I haven't used Heroin in 41 days," he tweeted.

The "Crash and Burn" author also vowed that he would stop using cocaine. "I have work to do. I feel now I can also stop Cocaine. But that's arrogance and addiction. I'm accepting help. If I fail now I will go to jail," he said. "Jail is not for addicts. But I'd be giving them no choice. When I use illegal drugs I have to score them. That's breaking the law."

Lange was sentenced to four years of probation in June of this year after he pleaded guilty to heroin possession. In May 2017, State Police found him with 81 decks of heroin after they pulled him over on the Garden State Parkway near Bloomfield.
