The mythical creature has so far existed only in Old Nan's creepy bedtime stories that she told Bran Stark.

AceShowbiz - "Game of Thrones" has featured many fantasy and mythical creatures, like the White Walkers, dragons and the Children of the Forest. But fans have never seen the giant ice spiders that haunt old Nan's creepiest bedtime stories on the show, not until today.
The "Game of Thrones" books author George R. R. Martin has shown how the legendary spider looks like. He takes to his Twitter page to share a sneak peek of "A Song of Ice and Fire" 2020 calendar which features two ice spiders being ridden by the Others, who look like Grim Reapers, on the cover art.
"Here's an official sneak peak of John Howe's cover art of our 2020 SoI&F calendar featuring the legendary ice spiders which haunt old Nan's creepiest bedtime stories," he writes in the caption.

In her bedtime stories that she told the Stark children, Old Nan said the ice spiders roamed Westeros thousands of years ago during the first Long Night. Since the illustration is for 2020 calendar, it's unlikely that the creatures will appear in the eighth season of "Game of Thrones" that will air in 2019. The creatures may appear in an untitled "Game of Thrones" prequel series, which Martin once said would be called "The Long Night".
While "Game of Thrones" TV series which is based on Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series will conclude with its eighth and final season next year, the book series isn't finished yet. Martin has been working on the sixth novel, "The Winds of Winter", for years, but he has not given an exact date when it will arrive.
In his recent blog post, he promised to fans that he would complete the book someday. "I know you want WINDS, and I am going to give it to you... but I am delighted that you stayed with me for this one as well," Martin wrote. "Your patience and unflagging support means the world to me."
