Opening up about his battle against anxiety and depression on 'Red Table Talk', the 'Just What I Am' rapper admits that he was really good at keeping his troubles hidden from his friends.

AceShowbiz - Kid Cudi was "ashamed" to discuss his mental health issues with his friends.

The rapper, real name Scott Mescudi, stepped back from the spotlight in late 2016, after detailing his struggles with anxiety and depression in a final Facebook post, and entered rehab.

In a new interview on Jada Pinkett Smith's online show "Red Table Talk", Cudi he reveals he spent years hiding his troubles from the people around him, because he didn't want to open up about his problems.

"I was really good at keeping my troubles hidden... even from my friends," he says. "I really was good with that. And it's scary because you hear people say, 'I had no clue'."

"Sometimes, I let them know that it's not their fault. It was me," he adds. "I really went out of my way to keep what I was going through hidden because I was ashamed."

Kid Cudi is now focused on his music and has formed a hip hop duo with Kanye West, named Kids See Ghosts. The rappers released their self-titled debut album earlier this year.

"I'm focusing on my art again and throwing myself back into it and wanting to write something with more of a positive outlook on things, because I've written the dark so well for so long," he previously told Billboard. "I wanted to bring the opposite of that, you know? I'm at a place where I was able to do that. It took me so long to get to that place, and I was really excited to write from that standpoint when I got there."
