After several failed attempts, the British singer is finally able to leave her lover for good in the Hector Dockrill-directed music video.

AceShowbiz - Fresh off scoring a Grammy nomination, rising star Jorja Smith released a music video for "The One" on Friday, December 7. Directed by Hector Dockrill, the emotional visuals features the British singer trying to break free from her lover as she sings about how the world is made up of three kinds of lovers: choosers, takers and begging heartbreakers.

It finds Jorja roaming around a motel as she contemplates to leave her lover alone in their room or not. She makes several attempts to go out of the motel, but always finds herself willingly going back. "Meet someone/ I don't wanna need no one," she sings on the tender track. "I'm not tryna let you in/ Even if I've found the one."

After numerous failed attempts, Jorja is finally able to take a ride and go out of the model, leaving her lover for good.

In an interview with Clash, director Hector said of the music video, "The track really inspired me to try and visualize what it's like to keep getting pulled back into a relationship. With the concept I wanted to leave the question: what has happened? I also felt the video should be beautifully simple to let Jorja's incredible energy and performance drive the video, which she naturally did."

In addition to releasing the video, Jorja unveiled a pair of remixes of the song with the help of Spyro and High Contrast. The song is among the twelve songs on her debut album "Lost & Found" that was released on June 8.

Jorja was recently announced as one of the nominees for Best New Artist at the 2019 Grammy Awards, along with the likes of Bebe Rexha, Luke Combs and fellow British singer Dua Lipa. The winner will be announced during a live ceremony on February 10, 2019 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
