AceShowbiz - Jon Gosselin has scored a win in legal battle against his ex-wife Kate Gosselin for the custody of their son Collin. On Tuesday, December 4, the father of eight was granted sole physical and sole legal custody of the 14-year-old, a source tells Us Weekly.
Kate and her lawyer did not show up for the court hearing. She had reportedly asked a day earlier for the hearing to be postponed, but her motion was denied.
Meanwhile, Jon arrived to the Reading, Pennsylvania courtroom at 9:15 A.M. in a black coat and suit with his legal team. "He looked very serious but calm," a source tells Radar Online about Jon's court appearance. "He looked like he had just one thing on his mind: To get custody of Collin."
Jon was leaving the court at 10:30 A.M., looking happy as he's smiling and joking around with his attorneys. "He won!" the source exclaims, adding that the 41-year-old former reality TV star was thrilled with the outcome.
Jon's hairdresser and close friend Eric Rodriguez also weighs in on his early win in the custody battle. "He did everything and anything to get his son, I know that," Eric tells Hollywoodlife.com. "He's just a great dad. His son is so attached to him. I cut his hair a couple of days ago, and he seems super happy that the kid is at his house right now."
However, the legal battle is not over yet, since the granted sole custody is only temporary. "All other matters were moved to a future court date," a source tells Us.
Collin is currently in an inpatient center to seek treatment for "serious anger issues." He will be headed straight to Jon's house after he leaves the facility. "Collin is very intelligent. He was always questioning Kate and talking back. Kate doesn't like that," a source said in November about Collin's progress at the facility. "They work closely with Jon and really do care about Collin."
Jon already has full custody of their daughter Hannah. In November, the DJ shared a photo with Collin and Hannah when the teen visited him at his home.
"Jon has been visiting Collin consistently at his live-in school," said a so-called insider said. "He's been incredibly dedicated to his son. His efforts have paid off because when Collin was home for his weekend visit there was clearly a very strong bond between father and son. Jon, Collin and Hannah make a great little family unit."
