Contrary to widely-circulating rumor, the 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' actor is not playing Mar-Vell in the upcoming superhero movie.

AceShowbiz - Jude Law's secret role in "Captain Marvel" has allegedly been revealed. While many believe that the British actor is playing Mar-Vell a.k.a. Walter Lawson, the original Captain Marvel from the comic books, a toy leak debunks this speculation.

A new product leak from Funko's upcoming line of POP! figures reveals that the Dr. John Watson of "Sherlock Holmes" films is actually playing [SPOILER ALERT!] Yon-Rogg. Contrary to previous rumor that Law's character would act as Carol Danvers' (Brie Larson) mentor, the new revelation suggests that he will villainize the upcoming movie.

Yon-Rogg is a member of the Kree military force and serves as a military commander. He hates Mar-Vell and makes multiple attempts to disgrace him among the Kree or to outright kill him. He's also described as harboring love for the medic Una.

"Captain Marvel" follows Carol Danvers, who was an accomplished Air Force pilot before she left her earthly life behind to join the elite military team Starforce on the Kree planet of Hala. When Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races, she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes.

The Starforce members also include Djimon Hounsou's Korath (from "Guardians of the Galaxy") and Gemma Chan's Minn-Erva. Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as Nick Fury, "GOTG" star Lee Pace is back as Ronan and Clark Gregg reprises his role as Phil Coulson.

Also starring Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrulls leader, Talos, Lashana Lynch as Carol's old friend, Maria "Photon" Rambeau, and Annette Bening in an undisclosed role, the movie is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. It is set for a wide release on March 8, 2019 in the United States.
