Going back to her co-hosting duties on the talk show after the tragic passing of her niece, the former 'Sister, Sister' star can't help but sobbing when she talks about the needs of gun control.

AceShowbiz - Actress Tamera Mowry-Housley broke down in tears as she honoured her tragic niece during her return to TV on Monday, November 26.

Alaina Housley, 18, was among the victims of a sick gunman who opened fire in Thousand Oaks, California club Borderline earlier this month, and on Monday her grieving aunt returned to her co-hosting duties on U.S. show "The Real" for the first time since the family tragedy.

And she couldn't control her emotions as she paid tribute to Alaina.

"She was my niece from marriage, but she was my friend and my sister from my heart," the 40 year old said, as pictures and videos of the pair were shown on a screen behind her.

"I loved that girl...," Tamera sobbed. "My heart needs a bandage."

Mowry-Housley shared a heartbreaking message for her late niece on Instagram shortly after her death, writing: "Alaina. My sweet, sweet Alaina. My heart breaks. I'm still in disbelief. It's not fair how you were taken and how soon you were taken from us. I was blessed to know you ever since you were 5. You stole my heart. I will miss our inside jokes, us serenading at the piano.

"Thank you for being patient with me learning how to braid your hair, and I will never forget our duet singing the national anthem at Napa's soccer game."
