Marrying her 'Morning Joe' co-host at the National Archives Building in front of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, Mika says, 'It makes sense now more than ever.'

AceShowbiz - Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have made official their union by throwing a post-Thanksgiving wedding. The longtime "Morning Joe" co-hosts tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the National Archives Building in Washington D.C. on Saturday, November 24.

According to Vanity Fair which obtained the wedding pictures, the couple made their way into the historic library via the Rotunda entrance. They said their "I Do's" in front of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights, marking the first time the library has hosted a wedding.

Explaining their choice of wedding venue, Mika tells the news outlet, "It makes sense now more than ever, given what we stand for as a couple, what we do for a living, and what we're worried about as a country."

The nuptials were officiated by US Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.). Similar to their untypical wedding venue, Mika opted for a non-traditional wedding gown with a simple mid-length white dress with a sheer overlay and matching shoes. Joe, meanwhile, wore a classic black-and-white suit.

The longtime "Morning Joe" c-hosts kept their wedding a secret by inviting their friends and family via phone calls.

The nuptials were followed by a reception of around 40 at Chez Billy Sud, a little French bistro off of M Street. In one of their wedding pictures, the newlyweds were beaming with happiness as they cut into their 20-layer traditional french crepe wedding cake.

Joe and Mika, who have been keeping their relationship private, kept their wedding a secret by not sending out any formal invitations. They only made about 14 phone calls to their family members and close friends, and none of them knew where the dinner was until Saturday evening. They made many of the reservations under a friend's name.

"We wanted it to be really small and simple and not what you expected from Mika and Joe," Mika says. "Everything we do is exposed, and everything felt exposed every step of the way, so we want this to be private until it's over. We wanted to recognize it more quietly and have the people who are most important to us around us. And you know, our show is a cocktail party every morning."

The couple has not posted anything about their wedding on social media, but Mika shared a cheeky picture of her kissing a frog on Instagram on Saturday. "I kissed the frog," she captioned it.
