Though he seems to have embraced fatherhood naturally, the older brother of Joe and Nick Jonas admits that it took him awhile before he truly enjoyed parenting his two daughters.

AceShowbiz - Kevin Jonas struggled when he became a father for the first time.

The 31-year-old singer shares four-year-old daughter Alena and two-year-old Valentina with wife Danielle. And while he's now a model father, taking to parenthood took him some time.

Reflecting on the weeks after Alena's birth, Kevin told USA Today: "I found I had to find my place. I had lost my focus, I had lost my groove. I didn't know where I fit in. I thought I was doing something wrong."

However, Kevin soon got to grips with his new family situation and, by the time Valentina was born in 2016, he was a confident father.

Asked how he got back on track, he replied: "You know, it was really just about paying attention to the moment. I stopped being distracted by what the world was throwing at me and took a step back to really enjoy the moment.

"As every parent knows, not every moment is going to be super exciting. But I just tried to understand that they're yours and this is your time together now."

Kevin, Danielle and their girls will be on hand at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 22 to introduce the "Paw Patrol" balloon. And the former Jonas Brothers star's youngest is more than a little excited about the prospect - given that the animated cartoon about a group of heroic dogs is her favourite.

"Oh my gosh - we went on a family vacation and I took two DVDs for them and that's all Valentina kept yelling: Paw Patrol, Paw Patrol, Paw Patrol!" Kevin laughed.
