AceShowbiz - Billie Eilish opts to end her bright year by encouraging people to come out of their shell. Partnering with Apple, the rising star released a sprawling ballad entitled "Come Out and Play" on Tuesday, November 20 for the tech giant's holiday campaign.

Co-written by her brother and frequent collaborator Finneas O'Connell, the song finds Billie encouraging her friends to stop hiding away and show their talent. She admits that her shy friends will find it difficult to come out of their shell due to their personality, but the singer convinces them that it's worth trying rather than staying in the same place.

"And I know it makes you nervous/ But I promise you, it's worth it/ To show 'em everything you kept inside/ Don't hide, don't hide," Billie softly sings over gentle guitar notes and thumping drums. "Too shy to say but I hope you stay/ Don't hide away/ Come out and play."

The release of the campaign song was accompanied with an animated advert which follows a girl who has a hard time hiding her artistic skill to the world. However, when her artwork are accidentally seen by other people, she finally gets the courage to show it off because they actually like it.

The siblings talked about the song during an interview with Zane Lowe of Beats 1. "It was a really fun process to watch the commercial a billion times and try to write sort of a song that helped to narrate the commercial," Finneas shared before Billie chimed in, "It was very different because we had never written a song about like empowering yourself."

"It's so Christmas-y and cute like it's very, very cute," she added. "I like that people are going to kind of think of this song as a holiday-ish."

Billie is one of the greatest rising stars this year thanks to her single "When the Party's Over" which has become a big sensations after generating more than a billion streams on streaming services.
