Stan Lee Laid to Rest in Small Funeral Per His Wish

POW! Entertainment shares that a bigger tribute is currently underway with more information being set to be shared in 'the days to come

AceShowbiz - Four days after his death, Stan Lee has now been laid to rest in a private ceremony on Friday, November 16. According to his company POW! Entertainment, the Marvel Comics legend, who died on Monday, November 12 at the age of 95, had always insisted not to have a large, public funeral.

"As we all continue to process our feelings of loss at the passing of a true legend, many are asking if there will be a memorial in Stan's honor," the company said in a statement. "Stan was always adamant that he did not want a large public funeral, and as such his family has conducted a private closed ceremony in accordance with his final wishes. Our thoughts and prayers continued to be with them."

The company, however, creates a special space for fans who look to remember Lee with a website therealstanlee.com, in which it has a "tribute wall" where friends, colleagues and longtime followers of the comic book icon can share messages.

POW! Entertainment also shared that a bigger tribute is currently underway with more information being set to be shared in "the days to come." The statement continued, "We at Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment are working on putting together a tribute befitting the greatest creator of our time and the father of modern pop culture. The grandeur of Stan makes this a monumental task, and we hope to have more info in the days to come."

The statement concluded, "Additionally, over the next several days we will be sharing messages from fellow creators, artists and colleagues of Stan's across his Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. We look forward to joining all of Stan's fans in celebrating his extraordinary life and legacy."

Following his death, many of stars paid tribute to the comic legend. Original "Avengers" stars including Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans recently teamed up for an advert that is featured in the November 14 issue of The Hollywood Reporter.

Featuring a gray Avengers symbol and a black background, it has heartfelt message written over it which reads, "We acknowledge his creative contribution, the thousands of men and women it has long employed, the millions that will continue to be entertained, and above all, his inimitable wit, grace, and humility. Stan, we love you, we will miss you, and we're grateful to represent a small part of your amazing legacy."

Stan passed away on Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after paramedics were called to his home in the Hollywood Hills following a medical emergency.
