People's Choice Awards 2018: Marvel's Superhero Films Dominate Movie Winner List

'Avengers: Infinity War' leads the pack with three wins, including the coveted title of Movie of 2018, while 'Black Panther' follows with two gongs.

AceShowbiz - The 2018 People's Choice Awards has handed out all the prizes at the ceremony held on Sunday night, November 11 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. In movie field, Marvel won big as its superhero films dominated the list.

"Avengers: Infinity War" led in terms of number with three gongs, including the biggest prize which was Movie of 2018. Scarlett Johansson, Danai Gurira and Pom Klementieff represented the movie to accept the trophy.

"Thank you so much! I haven't prepared anything but I just wanted to thank all the fans who voted for the movie and thank you to the Russo brothers, who directed the movie. They are amazing," said Johansson, who also won Female Movie Star of 2018 for her role in the movie.

The girls also took a moment to honor first responders who are working to protect the communities impacted by the deadly California wildfires. "We want to take the moment to dedicate this to the great state of California. The devastation and the turmoil that we are going through right now, we are with you, our thoughts and our prayers and our hearts are with you," Gurira said.

She continued, "To the first responders, your courage, your bravery, what you do to serve those that need you is beyond words. Thank you for what you do. Whatever we can do, please let's put our hearts and our minds to it. Whatever we can do big or small, we just want to dedicate this to them."

"Infinity War" also took home the prize for Action Movie of 2018, beating "Black Panther", "Deadpool 2", "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" and "Ocean's 8". "Black Panther", however, didn't come empty handed as it bagged two awards, Male Movie Star of 2018 for its lead Chadwick Boseman and Action Movie Star of 2018 for Gurira.

Beating her own co-star Chadwick Boseman, "Avengers: Infinity War" actor Chris Hemsworth, Ryan Reynolds for his role in "Deadpool 2" as well as Chris Pratt of "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" for the title, Gurira said in her speech, "Thank you for affirming that women and girls when they are given the chance to hang with the boys, can hang with the best of them. Thank you!"

She also thanked director Ryan Coogler for believing in her and other women. "I have to give love and appreciation to Mr. Ryan Coogler, the storyteller behind this, and for giving me this role and entrusting women to be collaborators, to be front and center and to have space and tell a story with him," she added. "Thank you very much, Mr. Coogler."

"The Spy Who Dumped Me" was named Comedy Movie of 2018. Mila Kunis took the stage to accept the award from Will Ferrel and John C. Reilly. "Guys, this is actually really cool. Thank you! We loved working on the film and are so so happy you guys responded to it," she said on stage. "Thank you for taking the time to vote."

Other movie winners included "Incredibles 2" (Family Movie of 2018) and "Fifty Shades Freed" (Drama Movie of 2018).

The 2018 People's Choice Awards also gave away the prizes for TV, music and other categories.
