In a new interview, the 'Pillow Talk' crooner suggests that his personality may be to blame for their broken relationship.

AceShowbiz - Those who are hoping for Zayn Malik to reunite with his former One Direction bandmates will ball their eyes out after this. In a new interview with British Vogue for its December issue, the British singer reveals that their relationship has "broken apart" by the time he left the band back in 2015.

Zayn suggests that he may be the reason for their broken relationship due to his personality. "I don't like to confer with too many people," he tells the publication, adding that he hasn't spoken to either Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson or Harry Styles ever since then. "I ain't spoken to any of them for a long time, to be honest with you."

But does it make him sad not to be able to chat with his ex-groupmates? It doesn't seem so since he has already expected this kind of outcome. "That's just the way it is," he continues. "There's things that happen and things that were said after I left. Snide things. Small things that I would have never have expected."

One Direction was formed through competition program "The X Factor" U.K. version, where they finished in third place. It wasn't too long until the band gained worldwide attention and became one of the most popular groups in the world, receiving numerous awards throughout their career.

Speaking about his time as a member of the popular boyband, the "Pillow Talk" crooner admits things got difficult for him over time, especially given the fact that he was merely a teenager at the time. "We went from theaters, to arena, to stadiums - there was never any sort of bridge between. Just boom, boom, boom," he recalls.

"I guess that kind of progression to any mind but especially when you're 17, 18 it kind of affects you a little bit. People take it different ways especially when there are five different personalities. The relationship had broken apart," he adds. "That's just the way it is. People move on, people grow apart, people grow up."
