Executive produced by Russo brothers, it stars the 'To All the Boys I've Loved Before' actress as katana-wielding Saya

AceShowbiz - Ahead of its premiere, SYFY has released a brand new trailer for its upcoming series "Deadly Class". Based on Rick Remender and Wes Craig's comic book series, the new series will star "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" star Lana Condor as katana-wielding Saya.

The trailer opens with Master Lin (Benedict Wong) scolding a few students of King's Dominion who are getting detention. Besides Lana's Saya, who is the leader of the Kuruoki Syndicate, there's also new student Marcus (Benjamin Wadsworth) and goth girl/death cult member Petra (Taylor Hickson).

Later Lana's Saya, who is the leader of the Kuruoki Syndicate, can be seen flaunting her stunning and deadly skills around katana.

"This school trains creative problem-solvers, the master of the deadly arts," Master Lin explains of the elite prep school hidden in San Fancisco.

The show also promises some romance blossoming between Marcus and Maria (Maria Gabriela de Faria Chacon) whom he meets in a martial arts class. Things will not be going easily for Marcus though, as Petra tells him about Maria's ruthless ex-boyfriend, Chico (Michel Duval). "He's gonna kill you," Petra warns Marcus.

The trailer also offers a glimpse of racist Southern belle Brandy (Siobhan Williams), punk rocker Billy (Liam James) and leader of Future World Order Willie (Luke Tennie).

Set in 1987, "Deadly Class" follows Marcus who was living on the streets before being recruited by Master Lin, the ruthless headmaster of King’s Dominion. Surrounded by violent students at King's Dominion, Marcus will have his fortitude tested.

"He has to survive basic high school things, along with the fact that these kids are the world’s top trained assassins," Benjamin says about his character to Entertainment Weekly.

Of her character Saya, Lana previously said, "I was just so drawn to Saya's mystery, and playing a character that has walls and is mysterious and dangerous was so exciting for me to do. I couldn’t be any more thrilled. It's very different from Jubilee as well."

Executive produced by Russo Brothers ("Avengers: Infinity War"), "Deadly Class" premieres January 16, 2019 at 10 P.M. on SYFY.
