Check out what happens to Smith's James Bond-like character when a nerdy inventor turns him into a small bird to go undercover.

AceShowbiz - Will Smith takes disguise to a whole new level in the first trailer for 20th Century Fox Animation's "Spies in Disguise". As seen in the video, the actor voices a James Bond-like spy agent, who is armed with advanced technology and equipments in his mission.

He looks cool driving his sports car and jumping off a helicopter as well as from a rooftop, before turning into a small bird, thanks to new invention found by a Q-like character, who is voiced by Tom Holland. The sneak-peek video doesn't show how Smith's character will continue his job in his new form, but does offer a glimpse of his funny banter with Holland's nerdy inventor.

In the upcoming film, super spy Lance Sterling (Smith) and scientist Walter Beckett (Holland) are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is... not. But what Walter lacks in social skills he makes up for in smarts and invention, creating the awesome gadgets Lance uses on his epic missions. But when events take an unexpected turn, Walter and Lance suddenly have to rely on each other in a whole new way. And if this odd couple can't learn to work as a team, the whole world is in peril.

According to the official logline, "Spies in Disguise" is described as an animated comedy set in the high-octane globe-trotting world of international espionage. It is directed by Troy Quane and Nick Bruno, marking their directorial debuts. The duo previously worked as animators on movies like the "Peanuts" movie and "Ferdinand".

The movie is based on Lucas Martell's 2009 animated short "Pigeon: Impossible". Karen Gillan, Rashida Jones, DJ Khaled, Ben Mendelsohn and Masi Oka join the voice cast of the movie, which is scheduled to open in theaters nationwide on September 13, 2019.
