AceShowbiz - Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest's sweet friendship is soon going to be adapted into a TV series. ABC has reportedly given a pilot order to "Work Wife", a half-hour multi-camera comedy inspired by the real-life friendship between the "Live" co-hosts.

"Work Wife" is set to be written by Michael Ian Black. It will explore "the dynamics surrounding our 'work spouses,' who have very few boundaries with each other, and how that impacts their relationships with everyone else."

In addition to penning the pilot, Black will serve as executive producer alongside Andrea Shay and Seacrest via Ryan Seacrest Productions and Kelly, her husband Mark Consuelos and Albert Bianchini for Milojo. Meanwhile, ABC Studios is the studio.

While Kelly has been with "Live" since 2001, the "American Idol" host joined Kelly as co-host and fellow executive producer on "Live with Kelly & Ryan" last year. His casting arrived after Michael Strahan exited the show for "Good Morning America", leaving Kelly feeling blindsided.

"Well, I've made it through, what, seven minutes on my first anniversary being with you. This is a full commitment. I'm excited about it," Ryan said after being announced as Kelly's new co-host.

Kelly and Ryan have been long-time friends with Ryan being guest hosted on the show for multiple times. In addition to "Live" and "American Idol", Ryan is hosting and serving as executive producer for ABC's annual program "Dick Clark's New Year’s Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest".

Meanwhile, Black's writing credits include "Another Period" and "The State" as well as the movies "Wedding Daze" and "Run, Fatboy, Run!". As for his acting career, he appeared on "Wet Hot American Summer", "The State" and "Another Period".
