The 'Fantastic Beasts' star is reportedly eyed to star as anti-war and civil rights activist Tom Hayden in the film based on Brett Morgen's documentary 'Chicago 10: Speak Your Peace'.

AceShowbiz - Eddie Redmayne is reportedly in talks to star in Aaron Sorkin's new film "The Trial of the Chicago 7".

The "Molly's Game" filmmaker is writing and directing the movie, which is based on Brett Morgen's documentary Chicago 10: Speak Your Peace - about the 1969 trial of seven defendants charged with conspiracy in connection with the counterculture protests at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois.

If "The Theory of Everything" star signs on, he will portray Students for a Democratic Society co-founder Tom Hayden, an anti-war and civil rights activist in the 1960s who famously married Jane Fonda.

Sacha Baron Cohen is also in negotiations to appear in the movie, which has been in development for years.

Steven Spielberg was briefly attached to direct the project in 2008 but he stepped away from the film after production was put on hiatus following the Writer's Guild of America strike.
