New 'Avengers 4' Theory Suggests Tony Stark Will Make Big Sacrifice to Beat Thanos

This is in line with newly confirmed synopsis of the upcoming Marvel movie which reads, 'Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is, and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.'

AceShowbiz - While it's obvious that beating Thanos won't be easy, there isn't any confirmed plotline that reveals the great lengths the Avengers will go to in order to reverse the decimation caused by Thanos' snap in "Avengers: Infinity War". A fan, however, has come up with a heartbreaking theory which suggests that Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark will make a big sacrifice to restore the vanishing Avengers in "Avengers 4".

Redditor sfmarch07 claims that the remaining Avengers will travel through time to grab the Infinity Stones before Thanos uses them for his own goal. However, in retrieving the soul stone, Tony may have to sacrifice two of the most important people in his life that are his parents.

"In order to retrieve the soul stone though, Tony is going to have to sacrifice something, the same way Thanos had to sacrifice Gamora," the Reddit user shared. "But instead of sacrificing Pepper Potts, what if Tony instead has to go back in time to 1991 and infiltrate Hydra or seek out the Winter Soldier, and order the hit on his parents himself?"

The fan went on speculating, "Sacrificing the thing he loves most, to enable him to get the Soul stone to fight against Thanos, knowing all the while what it will cause in the future and all the anguish it will personally cause him along with the events of Civil War, breaking up the Avengers, and everything that happens after that."

"Or maybe Nick Fury back in 1991 tells Tony that he has to do this. It would be the hardest decision that any character has had to make in the entire MCU, and a decision that only Tony Stark himself could make, a burden that only he could bear, truly exemplifying him as 'Iron' Man," the theory read.

The said fan pointed out that John Slattery who portrays Howard Stark in "Captain America: Civil War" has been reported to be reprising the role in "Avengers 4". The fan also noted that "Captain Marvel", whose titular character is said to appear in "Avengers 4", is set in 1990 while Tony's parents are killed in 1991, something which he/she said it's not a coincidence.

Should this theory be true, this is in line with an "Avengers 4" synopsis which was revealed in Licensing Magazine several months ago. "A culmination of 22 interconnected films, the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is, and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it," it read.

The synopsis seems to be confirmed by a newly-unveiled description of "Avengers 4" artbook. The book's description on Amazon states, "The fourth installment in the Avengers saga will be the culmination of 22 interconnected films and will let audiences witness the turning point of this epic journey. This collectible volume features art from films leading up to this thrilling event, including additional behind-the-scenes art, interviews, and photography from 'Avengers: Infinity War'."

The still-untitled "Avengers 4" is scheduled to bow in U.S. theaters on May 3, 2019.
