It's reported that both Lucasfilm and Manhattan Beach Police Department have launched investigations to try and locate the missing gear.

AceShowbiz - The filming of first live-action "Star War" series "The Mandalorian" is currently underway. However, the producers were sent into panic after a thief reportedly broke into the set at a studio in Manhattan Beach.

According to The Blast, a bunch of expensive equipment went missing from the set of the planned series, which hails from Jon Favreau. Sources close to the production revealed to the site that the gear was stolen overnight while the set was dark.

The thief allegedly got to snag some equipment from camera department. Getting its equipment stolen is one thing, but the production also reportedly in panic because it might have a memory card that contain sensitive information that will put the production in jeopardy.

Just like any other production of popular franchise, "The Mandalorian" has been trying hard to keep the plot tightly under wraps and the theft is definitely a huge headache for Lucasfilm.

The site reports that both the studio and police have launched investigations to try and locate the missing gear. It further states that "the main crew members grilled during the initial probe were those that deal with the cameras."

The theft was later confirmed by the Manhattan Beach Police Department, explaining that their officers responded to the theft call at around 11 A.M.

"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. 'The Mandalorian' is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic," read the official synopsis of the upcoming series.

To be directed by Dave Filoni ("Star Wars: The Clone Wars"), Taika Waititi ("Thor: Ragnarok"), Bryce Dallas Howard ("Marvel's Jessica Jones") , Deborah Chow ("Solemates") and Rick Famuyiwa ("Dope"), "The Mandalorian" is set to debut in late 2019 on Disney's yet-to-be-named streaming service.
