AceShowbiz - Ellie Goulding has finally made her return to the music industry. The British singer has teamed up with Diplo and Swae Lee for new song called "Close to Me", her first single as a lead artist in three years. The song made its way out on Wednesday, October 24.

The poppy banger features Goulding rhyming about how she wants to be with her significant other even though she clearly knows that they're both bad news to each other. "Even though we both know we're liars and we start each other's fires/ We just know that we'll be alright," she trills over acoustic guitar melodies and sweet beats.

"Close to Me" marks Goulding's second collaboration with Diplo. They previously teamed up on "Powerful", a track from his group Major Lazer's 2015 LP "Peace Is the Mission". Speaking to Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1, she opened up about how their new collaboration came to happen, revealing that she wrote the song six months ago.

"We always wanted to work together on something but we couldn't figure out what," she said. "This was the perfect track for him and he was really in love with it. So we got together on it and then we tries to find, basically, the perfect kind of companion with me for it. And then Swae Lee popped up and, as soon as I heard him do his verse on it, I was like, 'Yeah, this is perfect.' "

"Close to Me" is the first official single off her forthcoming fourth studio album. During the interview, the "Love Me Like You Do" hitmaker promised that the album's next singles would be "a little bit more sophisticated and more mature" compared to the lead single.

The upcoming effort will be a follow-up to her 2015 record "Delirium". Details regarding the new set have yet to be revealed.
