AceShowbiz - Lauren Jauregui has been teasing her debut solo single for some time, and now the wait is finally over. After much anticipation, the Fifth Harmony member unearthed "Expectations" at the stroke of midnight on Wednesday, October 24.

Written by Lauren herself, the song is a dreamy ballad which describes a relationship in which one doesn't appear to care about their significant other as much as the other does. "Wish I had no expectations/ I wish that I could get it through your head," she sings over atmospheric strings. "With no confrontation/ I really wish we could talk about it instead."

"Expectations" is one of the three songs which Lauren unveiled during her supporting gig at the Latin America leg of Halsey's "Hopeless Fountain Kingdom Tour". She said of the song at the 2018 American Music Awards, " 'Expectations' is an exploration of when you're in a relationship with someone you don't want to have expectations. But they kind of get in the way, regardless, so it's about that."

The song serves as the lead single off her upcoming debut solo album. Details regarding the title and release date of the effort is not yet to be revealed, but the girlfriend of Ty Dolla $ign previously hinted that it was a "personal" album and that she would use a singular "you" rather than a partner of any specific gender.

"My art is just self-explorative," she explained to Nylon magazine. "I'm gonna talk about whatever it is that I'm going through, so if what I went through, I went through with a girl, you're gonna hear about it from that perspective. If what I went through, I did with with a man, you're gonna hear it from that perspective, 'cause I just love souls."
