The 'I Might Need Security' rapper picks up unsuspecting passengers and drives them around Chicago as part of Undercover Lyft campaign to boost donations to worthy causes.

AceShowbiz - Chance The Rapper recently embarked on a secret side gig as a driver for on-demand car service Lyft to promote the app's fundraising initiative.

The Chicago, Illinois native got behind the wheel for the transportation firm's Undercover Lyft campaign, picking up unsuspecting passengers and dropping them off around the city.

After introducing himself as John, Chance, who disguised his features with a beanie hat and glasses, tried to engage with them about philanthropy during their rides, quoting lyrics from some of his songs, including "I Might Need Security", on which he raps, "I'm only 25, but I'll get a statue in my hometown when I die."

Chance even joked about his personal life, quipping to one customer, "I'm not a super fan, but I know he's got a good looking woman, I think he's about to get married to her," in reference to his fiancee Kirsten Corley, the mother of his three-year-old daughter Kensli.

Some passengers were quick to catch on to the ruse after recognising Chance, with one stunned rider even quipping, "Do you know who you are?", and at the end of the trips, the MC swapped out the beanie for his signature cap and came clean about his identity.

The celebrity experience was part of Lyft bosses' ongoing efforts to boost donations to worthy causes by encouraging app users to participate in their Round Up & Donate scheme, which allows passengers to donate loose change to a charity of their choice.

Chance previously teamed up with Lyft officials to make his non-profit organisation, SocialWorks, one of the featured causes, raising money for arts education for the Chicago Public Schools system.

The rapper isn't the first star to take part in the Undercover Lyft series - Joe Jonas, Demi Lovato, and DJ Khaled have all previously served as cab drivers for promotional videos.
