The top 16 singer on season 6 of the singing competition was arrested in Virginia on October 12 for allegedly trying to distribute heroin, and is expected to appear in court on October 15.

AceShowbiz - Former "American Idol" star Antonella Barba has been arrested on drug charges.

The 31-year-old was booked in Virginia on Friday, October 12 for allegedly trying to distribute heroin, according to multiple outlets.

Barba is facing a felony charge of heroin distribution of 100 grams or more, and will appear in court on Monday, October 15. She is currently being held in jail without bond.

The troubled singer is best known for appearing on season six of "American Idol" in 2007, and narrowly missed out on making the top 12. Jordin Sparks eventually went on to be crowned winner.

At the time, she made headlines for posing in a wet T-shirt at the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C.

And in 2011, Barba was charged with two misdemeanors for shoplifting in Manhattan, New York.
