AceShowbiz - Another photo from "Hobbs and Shaw" has been released. On Thursday, October 11, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson took to Instagram to share the first look at Idris Elba as the villain in the upcoming "The Fast and the Furious" spin-off.
The black-and-white picture featured Elba in a heavily armored getup alongside three armed guards in what appeared to be an office. Judging by the mess, it's safe to say that there was definitely fight going on between Elba's character and Johnson's Luke Hobbs as well as Jason Statham's Deckhard Shaw.
"I learned a long time ago (when I was a very sinful eyebrow raising villainous man in the crazy world of pro wrestling:) that heroes are only as great as their greatest villains," the wrestler-turned-actor said in the caption, teasing, "A pleasure to introduce the man himself @idriselba we brought in to our Fast & Furious franchise to wreak havoc, hell and maybe our heroes HOBBS & SHAW."
He also revealed details of Elba's character, announcing that his name is Brixton and that he had never been defeated in any battle.
Johnson previously shared the first look photo at his character and Statham's. The image hinted that a tension was brewing among them. "We either gonna get along or we gonna get it on. F**k getting along," he captioned the picture at the time.
Plot details of "Hobbs and Shaw" are still kept under wraps, but it has been confirmed that Helen Mirren is going to reprise her role as Shaw's feisty mum Magdalene, while "The Crown" star Vanessa Kirby will play an MI-5 agent, who just happens to be Shaw's sister.
The movie is directed by David Leitch ("Deadpool 2") with a script provided by Chris Morgan. It was greenlit by Universal Pictures in late 2017 and is scheduled for a July 26, 2019 U.S. release. "Fast and Furious 9", meanwhile, is set to arrive on April 10, 2020, being pushed back a year from its original release date of April 19, 2019.
