Scott's 'TWD' co-star Khary Payton remembers the big hug his late actor gave him, while Titus Welliver, who starred alongside Scott on 'Bosch', tweets he is heartbroken by the news.

AceShowbiz - "The Walking Dead" star Scott Wilson has died.

The veteran actor played Hershel Greene on the show from 2011 to 2014. He passed away on Saturday, October 06 at his home in Los Angeles due to complications from leucemia. He was 76.

In a statement from U.S. network AMC on Twitter, they said his character "lived at the emotional core of the show."

"Scott will be remembered as a great actor and an even better person. The character he embodied on 'The Walking Dead', Hershel, lived at the emotional core of the show. Our hearts go out to his wife, family, friends and to the millions of fans who loved him," the statement read.

Wilson starred in around 30 episodes of the "The Walking Dead" in seasons two, three and four. It was announced at New York Comic-Con on Saturday that he has reprised his role in the ninth season of the show, set to air on Sunday, October 07 in the U.S.

His rep, Dominic Mancini, confirmed the sad news to People.

"Scott was one of the most genuine, inspirational, and truly beloved people," Mancini said. "His amazing legacy will live on through his timeless performances. He will be missed deeply by his wife, family, and friends."

Khary Payton, who plays the character of Ezekiel in "The Walking Dead", said, "The first time I met Scott Wilson, he gave me a big hug and said that this thing I had become apart of... was a family. He said I had a responsibility to take care of it. I have tried very hard to do that, sir. & I will continue. I promise. See you on the other side, my friend."

Titus Welliver, who starred alongside Wilson on the police drama series "Bosch", paid a heartbreaking tribute to his friend on Twitter.

"Scott Wilson has departed. I am heartbroken. We are fewer. Go easy into the light brother. Damn, this hurts so much. I hope there's an afterlife brother, we had so much more to do," he wrote.

Wilson is survived by his wife, Heavenly, whom he married in 1977.
