The video sees Sam Rockwell's George W. Bush offering Bale's Cheney a position as his vice president, with the latter trying to negotiate his duties.

AceShowbiz - The first full trailer of "Vice (2018)" is released online after previously teased in a 12-second sneak peek. The new video opens with a conversation between Christian Bale's Dick Cheney and Sam Rockwell's George W. Bush during which the latter is offering the former to be his vice president.

Cheney seems reluctant at first, saying, "George, I'm a CEO of a large company. I have been secretary of defense and I have been White House chief of staff. The vice presidency is a mostly symbolic job." He adds his condition to accept the offer, though, asking to handle "more mundane jobs."

"However, if we came to a different understanding, I can handle the more mundane jobs: overseeing bureaucracy, military, energy and foreign policy," Cheney suggests. Bush doesn't seem to mind it, as he asks in the latter part of the trailer, "So we gonna do this thing, or what? I mean, is this happening?" Cheney replies, "I believe we can make this work."

The video also shows Cheney on various duties as vice president, attending a meeting and discussing something with the authorities in a Middle Eastern country. There's also a glimpse of Steve Carell as former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld, who thinks that Cheney is "more ruthless" than he used to be after becoming the VP.

Bale underwent a drastic transformation for the role, gaining at least 40 lbs. to get into character. He told Star2.com that he worked with an expert to stay healthy while putting on pounds. "So, I went to somebody, and they managed to get me up a good 40 lbs," he said in December. "It's never healthy to put on that amount of weight in a short amount of time, but I did it in the healthiest manner."

Directed by Adam McKay who directed Bale in "The Big Short", "Vice" follows Cheney’s controversial stance as a Washington bureaucrat who played an important role in launching the Iraq War while also courting controversy outside the political sphere. McKay also writes the script.

Amy Adams joins the cast as the former Vice President's wife, Lynne Cheney. Bill Pullman stars as Nelson Rockefeller, and Tyler Perry portrays Colin Powell. McKay is producing along with Will Ferrell, Kevin J. Messick, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner and Brad Pitt. It is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on December 21.
