Sporting the demon horns, David Harbour's title character wields a sword while being surrounded by the burning flames.

AceShowbiz - Columbia Pictures has debuted the first poster for "Hellboy (2019)". Making its way out via Entertainment Weekly, the artwork perhaps wants to show what hell looks like with its flaming red background.

The titular character, portrayed by David Harbour, has his two demon horns fully grown again in the image. He bares his chest while carrying a flaming sword, while his Right Hand of Doom is also featured in the poster.

Hellboy is an immensely powerful demon who works for the government organization Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.). The upcoming reboot, which has dropped the "Rise of the Blood Queen" subtitle, will depict Hellboy's battle against an ancient sorceress who wants revenge against humankind, which will require more than normal demon power.

Harbour previously said that the film would be a "character piece" and have a "darker tone" that will warrant the film's R-rating. "It really is this study of this man going through this horrible conundrum and we really get to go in deep with him," he stated.

Neil Marshall serves behind the lens, with the comic book creator, Mike Mignola, co-writing the script based on a particular three-part story arc he did with artist Duncan Fegredo. Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Aron Coleite also serve as co-scriptwriters.

Milla Jovovich is cast as Nimue a.k.a. the Blood Queen, Ian McShane portrays Trevor Bruttenholm, Hellboy's adoptive father and founder of B.P.R.D., Brian Gleeson plays a wizard named Merlin, with Sasha Lane, Daniel Dae Kim, Sophie Okonedo, Penelope Mitchell and Alistair Petrie taking other roles.

More tidbits of the movie will be shared during the film's panel at New York Comic Con this Saturday, October 6. The supernatural superhero film is set to be unleashed in U.S. theaters on April 12, 2019.
