Also watch Taron Egerton perform as the rock star and the singer's his near-death experience as depicted in the 'true fantasy' movie.

AceShowbiz - Taron Egerton is taking the center stage in the first teaser for Paramount Pictures' "Rocketman". The "Kingsman: The Secret Service" actor stars as Elton John in the upcoming biopic, which is dubbed a "true fantasy" movie.

The video offers a glimpse of the rock icon recording in a studio and wearing a variety of outlandish outfits, including a crown for a stage performance and a glittering horn-like headdress, and teases his romantic relationship with John Reid, played by Richard Madden, as John looks shy after Reid winks at him. Reid was Elton's lover and manager for 30 years, before they felt out over the singer's finances.

He's also seen losing his temper as he throws something to the door. Another scene shows him enjoying drink alone despite throwing a party in his backyard, before he's drowning in the pool and taken in an ambulance.

"There are moments in a rock star's life that define who he is," Madden narrates the video. "Where there was darkness, there is now you - and it's going to be a wild ride." The video is set to John's song "Rocketman".

An "uncensored human story," the movie will explore the "I Want Love" hitmaker's early years as a prodigy at London's Royal Academy of Music, through to his influential and enduring musical partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin.

Egerton previously said the movie wouldn't be a straightforward biopic. "It's a fantasy musical so it's actually his (John's) songs used to express important beats in his life at emotional moments," he explained. "He's not the only character that sings."

Jamie Bell is tapped to star as Bernie Taupin, while Bryce Dallas Howard is playing John's mother, Sheila Farebrother. Dexter Fletcher serves as director, with the script provided by Lee Hall.

John is producing along with his Rocket Pictures partner and husband David Furnish as well as "Kingsman: The Secret Service" filmmaker Matthew Vaughn. The film is slated to be released on May 31, 2019 in the United States.
