The 'Guardians of the Galaxy’ actress is joining Harrison Ford and Dan Stevens in the movie adaptation of Jack London's classic adventure novel.

AceShowbiz - "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" star Karen Gillan has landed another classic adventure movie after signing on to join Harrison Ford for "The Call of the Wild".

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" star will play Mercedes in the latest adaptation of Jack London's beloved 1903 novel, set against the backdrop of the Klondike Gold Rush in America.

Former "Downton Abbey" star Dan Stevens will also take on a lead role in the 20th Century Fox project, which is currently underway in Los Angeles, according to Deadline.

Chris Sanders is directing from a script written by Logan screenwriter Michael Green.

The film, which revolves around Ford's prospector character, John Thornton's trek across the Canadian Yukon, will be released on Christmas Day, 2019.

Meanwhile, Gillan, who is also a former "Doctor Who" assistant, is currently shooting the latest Avengers movie, in which she'll reprise her "Guardians of the Galaxy" character Nebula.

She will also be back for the Jumanji sequel, which goes into production in 2019, after she wraps "Call of the Wild".

The Scottish star's directing dreams have been given a boost too, after her independent film "The Party's Just Beginning" was picked up for distribution by bosses at The Orchard.

The low-budget movie, which Gillan also wrote and produced, made its North American premiere at this year's Tribeca Film Festival in New York, where it won rave reviews from the critics.

Shot in her native Inverness, Scotland, the project centres on a young woman trying to come to terms with a recent loss.

The cast also includes Gillan's "Guardians of the Galaxy" castmate Lee Pace, Siobhan Redmond, and Jamie Quinn.

"The Party's Just Beginning" will hit cinemas in America on 7 December.
