Director Todd Phillips shares a clip of the actor turning from Arthur into the Batman villain in his full regalia.

AceShowbiz - Todd Phillips has treated fans to another sneak peek of his upcoming movie "Joker", which is currently in production. No letting paparazzi pictures spoil it, the director took to his Instagram account to share the first official look at Joaquin Phoenix in full Joker makeup.

On Friday, September 21, "The Hangover" trilogy director posted a clip from camera test featuring Phoenix's Arthur Fleck in his street clothes. He stands still and looks straight into the camera while images of himself as the Joker flicker across the scene. He eventually completely turns into his alter ego, showing his iconic grin.

Phillips previously revealed the first look at Phoenix as Batman's nemesis pre-his Joker days. Later on the same day, Sunday, September 16, the actor was spotted filming the movie on the set in Manhattan, New York City. Wearing a hoodie jacket on top a brown vest and shirt while carrying a paper bag, he was seen showing his character's maniacal laugh while filming with another actor who sported a clown makeup.

An origin story of the signature villain of Batman, "Joker" is described as a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale of a man disregarded by society who becomes the ultimate supervillain. The film depicts the titular character as a failed stand-up comedian who goes insane and becomes a murdering psychopath.

Frances Conroy, Zazie Beetz, Marc Maron, Robert De Niro, Shea Whigham, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Douglas Hodge, Josh Pais and Brett Cullen also star in the movie. Cullen is playing Batman's father, Thomas Wayne, replacing Alec Baldwin who dropped out of the project due to "scheduling" issues.

Phillips also wrote the script with Scott Silver, in addition to serving as producer along with Martin Scorsese and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. The DC-Warner Bros. movie is scheduled for an October 4, 2019 release in the United States.
