Insisting he never borrowed money from Scooter’s company, Troy Carter accuses Scooter of extortion after he is being slapped with 10-million-dollar lawsuit.

AceShowbiz - Executives at Scooter Braun's company have launched a lawsuit against Lady GaGa's former manager Troy Carter for allegedly failing to pay back a $10 million (£7 million) loan.

Bosses at Braun's company Ithaca Management Holdings claimed they loaned Carter, who was global head of creator services at Spotify, in excess of $10 million in June 2016, according to documents obtained by TMZ.

The executives say that Carter's company was due to return the loan in full if it got paid from a case it was arbitrating, but when they settled the case, they allegedly tried to hide the money instead of paying off the loan.

Ithaca officials reportedly sent a letter to Carter in August asking for the money, but had no luck, so they have launched a lawsuit asking for a judge to make Carter pay up, or start foreclosure on the property and assets he put up as collateral for the loan.

Carter, who also serves as entertainment advisor for Prince's estate, has responded to the legal action, telling TMZ that he never borrowed money from the company and feels like he's being extorted. He claims he agreed to "re-purchase" Atom Factory - the management company he founded and sold to Braun - and the 37-year-old offered him a discount if he paid up front.

Saying Braun, who is Jewish, is accusing him of fraud, Carter makes reference to Braun's client Justin Bieber and former client Kanye West, by adding, "The only fraud is Scooter Braun professing to be a high integrity individual. The spurious speeches about equal rights don't square when you make excuses for clients that make jokes about 'n******s.' Or, attempting to spin the press when a client diminishes the horrific crimes of slavery... Had these comments been anti-semitic, he would've made sure those clients never worked again. It's financial gain over personal principals.

"There are only a handful of African-American executives left in our business and yet he's okay with attempting to falsely ruin my reputation," he added.

Carter was Lady GaGa's manager from 2007 to 2013, and also worked with the likes of Meghan Trainor, John Legend and Eve, and is the former global head of creator services at Spotify.
