Responding to backlash over her Instagram post, the singer wife of football player Eric Decker insists that she knows what she is doing.

AceShowbiz - Jessie James Decker has hit back at those who criticised her for having a glass of wine while she was breastfeeding, insisting as a mother-of-three she "knows what she's doing".

The country music singer is mother to four-year-old Vivianne, three-year-old Eric, Jr. and five-month-old Forrest with American football player Eric Decker. She posted a picture of herself breastfeeding Forrest on Instagram last month, but some fans were quick to slam her for the glass of wine she appeared to be drinking at the same time.

"You and your baby are beautiful!!!! I hope that's not alcohol while you feeding that precious gift..." one concerned user wrote, while another commented: "Why is it okay to drink while breastfeeding?"

Jessie has now hit back at the remarks, telling Us Weekly that she won't apologise for the snap.

"It was bananas. A lot of people had a problem with it," she said. "I have three children. I know what I'm doing now. And it's totally OK to toast to a celebration and have a drink while you're breastfeeding."

She added: "After three children I've learned about what things to worry about and what things not to worry about and a sip of wine isn't one of them!"

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the U.S. recommends that not drinking alcohol is the "safest option" for breastfeeding mothers, but adds that moderate alcohol consumption (up to one standard drink per day) is not known to be harmful to the infant. According to the U.K's National Health Service (NHS), there is "some evidence" that regularly drinking more than two units of alcohol a day while breastfeeding may affect your baby's development.
