In the wake of Mac Miller's sudden passing, the 'Like You' rapper revealed that he used to be addicted to a combination of cough syrup and soft drinks, and it nearly cost him his life.

AceShowbiz - Rapper Bow Wow "nearly died" after getting addicted to lean, a combination of cough syrup and soft drinks.
The musician and child actor took to Twitter to warn his fans about the dangers of consuming the concoction, comprising the promethazine and codeine-based medicine and soda, as he revealed he had been drinking it "every day" at the height of his career 10 years ago.
"To the youth- Stop with these dumb a** drugs," he began his series of tweets. "Im going to let something out. When me and omarion worked on FACE OFF album. I was high off lean everyday! When yall saw me on BET going off on torae (American rapper) i was high off lean. My attitude everything changed (sic)."

During the UCP tour with Chris Brown in 2007, Bow Wow was using the drug multiple times every day until an incident which saw him sent to the hospital. After that he came off the drug, but not without some severe withdrawal side effects.
"The whole time i was on the UCP tour with chris I WAS SIPPING 4's atleast 7 times a day," he wrote. "I was addicted until our show in Cincinnati.. i came off stg (stage) and passed out, woke up in the hospital.

"I never felt a pain like that ever. It was summer but i was walking round with 3 hoodies on because i was so cold," he revealed. "I missed the chicago show of that tour baltimore show BECAUSE I WAS F***ing HIGH AND SICK!!!! that s**t is not cool and i was doing it to be cool!"

Bow Wow concluded his tweets by encouraging his followers to take steps to kick any drug addictions, especially following the tragic death of 26-year-old rapper Mac Miller from an apparent drug overdose earlier this month.
"Kick that s**t! Be a good son or daughter. Be the best you," he concluded. "Ima start being more vocal. We gotta save the youth from going out early. Parents watch your kids. Explain to them. We want yall to live man. I almost died f***ing with syrup.
