The 'All for You' singer says she 'didn’t like anything about' her body growing up.

AceShowbiz - Janet Jackson has opened up about her lifelong struggle with body image issues in a candid new magazine interview.

The 52-year-old singer covers InStyle’s October Beauty issue and in an accompanying chat, she reveals it took several years for her to find parts of her body she liked.

"Therapy helped a great deal with that," she tells the publication. "I had to find something in my body that I loved, and that was difficult for me to do. At first, I couldn't find anything. I would look in the mirror and start crying. I didn’t like that I was not attractive. I didn’t like anything about me".

But Janet eventually decided the small of my back was the best thing about her and she went from there.

"I found more things," she adds. "And then finally realising my smile isn't that bad after all. I thought I looked like the Joker because it was so big".

The first time @JanetJackson truly felt sexy and confident wasn’t until she was well into her 30s. “I got out of a funky relationship and finally got back to me,” she opens up to @LauraBrown99 in our October beauty issue. “I went to therapy, which was all about finding that thing you like about yourself. The realization that, you know what, you’re not so bad after all. I’m not saying you’re great or you’re the best, but it’s not as bad as you were made to feel that it was.” How did she overcome some of her biggest insecurities? “A lot of it has to do with experience, getting older. Understanding, realizing that there isn’t just one thing that is considered beautiful. Beautiful comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors.” Amen to that. Full interview at the link in bio. Jackson admits maturity and wisdom have helped her come to terms with her looks and body and "realising that there isn’t just one thing that is considered beautiful", adding, "Beautiful comes in all shapes, sizes, colours".

But the Nasty singer was well into her 30s before she started feeling beautiful and sexy.

"I got out of a funky relationship and finally got back to me," she explains. "I went to therapy, which was all about finding that thing you like about yourself. (There was the) realisation that, 'You know what, you're not so bad after all. I'm not saying you're great or you're the best, but it's not as bad as you were made to feel that it was'".

And now she's a mum to one-year-old son, Eissa, she has never felt more beautiful: "I feel like I'm being corny here, but it’s just the honest truth, I feel most beautiful when I'm with my son, because the gift that God has given me and that he allowed me to do so at that age (50)... My baby is so sweet and so healthy, so happy and so full of love".
